This painting reflects on the buddhism religion.Many peolpe believe a Buda is a men ,but this picture look like a woman for me. As you can see a Buda is sitting on the throne on piece and relaxe. When I look this painting I feel calm.People are at the botton ,who believes in Buda, is praying for him.
That is a good example you are right. it sacred and not only by the religious way. Buddha is sacred because he represent the inner peace that we are all looking for.
